L'Oréal-UNESCO International Awards For Women in Science 2023

The 2023 Prizes will be awarded to five outstanding women researchers for their work in the physical sciences, mathematics and computer science. Each winner will receive a prize of €100,000 for her contribution to the advancement of science at a ceremony in March 2023. Scientists from around the world are invited to nominate candidates for the 2023 Awards, who will then be selected by an international jury of eminent scientists.

Since the program's inception in 1998, the L'Oréal-UNESCO Awards for Women in Science have honored 122 laureates, five of whom have won the Nobel Prize.

Nominations must be submitted by Tuesday, May 31, 2022 via the following online platform: www.forwomeninscience.com.

Mobility grants from the French Embassy for former "PHC Tournesol" laureates
The French Embassy in Belgium offers grants to finance research stays in France, in order to accelerate the development of the best projects carried out within the framework of the Hubert Curien Tournesol Program.

The research visit must be a continuation of a Tournesol project that has been funded in the past. It will offer a doctoral student or post-doctoral fellow from the Belgian partner the possibility of spending a month in the laboratory of the French partner. The mission will have to be completed by December 31, 2022 at the latest.

Within the framework of the stay in France, the fellow of the Belgian laboratory will benefit from the following advantages :

  • Grant for a one month stay (1 704 €)
  • Access to accommodation at limited cost
  • Health insurance
Eligibility criteria:
  • The research stay must be carried out by a PhD student, postdoc or young researcher (less than 5 years after the thesis) from a Belgian laboratory
  • The project must be a continuation of a PHC Tournesol project that has been funded in the past
  • Particular attention will be paid to projects with a European opening and which are preparing an application for European funds (Horizon Europe...)
  • The mission must end no later than December 31, 2022
There is no deadline for this call: applications will be processed until the available funds are exhausted.

UNESCO - Silk Roads Youth Research Fellowships

As part of the ongoing work of the Silk Roads program, to better understand the rich history and shared heritage and spirit of the Silk Roads, UNESCO with the support of the National Commission of the People's Republic of China for UNESCO, has established the "Silk Roads Youth Research Fellowship" in 2021 within the framework of UNESCO's Social and Human Sciences Sector. The second edition of this call has now been launched.

This initiative, which aims to mobilize young researchers for a more in-depth study of the common heritage of the Silk Roads, will award twelve research fellowships to young women and men under the age of 35.

Fellowship applicants are invited to address areas of academic study related to the common heritage and plural identities of the Silk Roads, as well as its internal diversity and potential in contemporary societies for creativity, intercultural dialogue, social cohesion, regional and international cooperation, and ultimately sustainable peace and development.

The deadline for submission of proposals is May 31, 2022, after which the list of awardees will be announced at the end of September 2022.

2022 Call for Applications - International Geoscience and Geoparks Program Councils
UNESCO is the only United Nations organization with a mandate to support research and capacity building in geology and geophysics. The International Geoscience and Geoparks Programme (IGBP) is its flagship programme with two pillars: the International Geoscience Programme (IGCP), and the UNESCO Global Geoparks.
